About the Artist
Yanna Kali born in Athens in 1981, graduated from the School of Fine Arts at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is currently doing her postgraduate degree in Audio Visual Arts. She is actively involved with different forms of art including installations, drawings, constructions and sound art. Recently she was selected with nine other artists, from all over the world, to participate in a residency at the Daugavpils Mark Rothko Art Centre in Latvia. The works that she produced during the residency now belong to the collection at the Mark Rothko Art Centre.
The main concept deals with the depressing psychological spaces of our existence and the existential dualism of life being captured in two ways, in that of thinking and sensing.
