About the Poet

Susan is a fiction writer, playwright and poet, and graduated with an MA in Writing for Performance from Goldsmiths University.

Her work has always sought to tackle broad social issues, such as the treatment of foreign prisoners in UK prisons, self-harm in teenagers, the consequences of war, and the prisons that we create within ourselves.

She is hugely inspired by travel and different cultures, landscapes, and by the notion of identity and connection, as well as the work of the artist Edward Hopper. These inspirations often feed into my work as reflections on alienation and the sense of loss that people experience as part of the human condition. Through this, I explore the desire for spirituality and connection to the natural world and each other.
