Marisa Companion

About the Artist 

Marisa Companion, born 1985 in Portsmouth. Their work explores chronic illness, mental health and gender tropes.  They studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and the California Institute of the Arts. Maris's work has been exhibited at Van Der Plas Gallery, Lichtenstein Centre for Arts, Art Basel, and others. Marisa taught art at Cocheco Academy of the Arts; art education is an important part of their practice. Hypersensium is presenting Marisa in the context of mental resilience through creativity and empathy in the art communities.
